Introducing Paul Beckett
When it comes to farming, Paul Beckett is passionate about the industry.
That’s why he finds it hard to drive past a paddock without analysing it! Farming is in the blood – he comes from three generations of farmers.
“When you are passionate about an industry, it makes it much easier to sell.”
Working in every area from management to share milking, as well as a degree in Agriculture and Farm Management, have given Paul insight into what is marketable about a farm or lifestyle block. Paul is committed to getting the best outcomes for the rural sector, because he knows and recognises the value of property in this area. His fresh and straightforward approach makes his clients feel informed, and at ease.
Here’s what some of my recent clients had to say about me.
"We decided it was time to move to a bigger lifestyle property. After looking around and talking to a number of agents from different firms we landed on Paul Beckett. While he was listing and advertising our house, he was straight onto finding us the next one. Paul was very personable, professional and he listened to what we wanted. It was great to have an agent who was dedicated to finding us the property we wanted, all the while finding the buyers for our house. Paul was definitely focused more on us than the commission at the end of it, which is a great attribute in a real estate agent."
"Just want to say a big thank you to Paul for finding us a lovely home - we can’t wait to move in! While we were considering an offer on our house, Paul amazingly found us another – who does that, buys and sells on the same day? Paul’s determination to find us the right place made it that much easier; he took the stress right out of it - we can’t thank Paul enough. If it wasn’t for Paul’s drive, enthusiasm and determination, we might’ve missed out on this place. It’s been a real pleasure dealing with Paul - his energy and drive (and humour) are second to none!"
If I am honest, when dairying farming I could never accurately estimate heifers or cow weights and until I hired some scales I realised and was truly surprised by the true results, I was mostly over on Friesian crosses and under on jerseys. Best way to wean and manage heifers is to weigh monitor weigh. Here are some guidelines on target weights and guidelines.
"Use heifer weights to see if heifers have been fed enough, we don’t measure feed intakes at the runoff—we go off weight gain." - Dairy farmers, 265 cows, Inglewood, Taranaki
"Putting weight on heifers in the autumn can be difficult. Even though our autumn grass looked like rocket fuel, I started weighing and it showed the heifers weren’t gaining any weight. Sometimes the dry matter is too low in the pasture." - Contract grazier, 850 heifers, Stratford, Taranki
